Trapezoid Player is a free video player for Windows and Android. You mark the four corners of a projection screen. The video plays inside that trapezoid, and the projector light on the wall around the cloth becomes Ambilight from the same frame.

Does it work on Android TV?
Yes. On a set-top box the arrows move each corner, OK sets the point, and after the fourth point the remote focuses Continue or Start over. During playback the remote reaches play, pause, the seek bar, and the button that chooses the corners again.
Which corner order does the cloth use?
Top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left. The same order is used on Windows and on Android. The player maps the video rectangle onto those four points.
What is Ambilight in Trapezoid Player?
Ambilight is the light around the screen that follows the picture. In Trapezoid Player it is the projector light that misses the cloth and takes its color from the same video frame.
Why is there no black frame around the picture?
A blur of a picture that is black outside the trapezoid mixes black into the edge and paints a dark rim. Trapezoid Player builds Ambilight from the real edge of the video, then lays the sharp picture on top, so the cloth and the Ambilight share a color.
Does the player save the video file?
No. You choose the file again each time a film starts. On Android the four corners are saved, and a file manager can hand the app a video for that session. On Windows you choose the file and the corners for each launch.
Can a file manager open a video in the Android app?
Yes. Trapezoid Player registers as a player for video files, so Open with can include it. The corners screen appears before playback.
Where do the playback controls go?
Play, pause, and the seek bar are drawn inside the trapezoid, on the cloth. On Android a second button beside play returns to the corner screen. The wall around the cloth stays free of buttons.
