Trapezoid Player on Android
The Android player is free and works on phones and on Android TV boxes. It is a video player: a file manager can open a video with it. The corners of the cloth are saved. The video file is not, so each film starts with a fresh choice of file. Ambilight stays on the wall around the cloth.
Open a video
From the app icon, choose a video. From a file manager, open the file with Trapezoid Player. Either way you land on the corner screen. If corners were saved earlier, they are already placed and the focus is on Continue.
Place the corners with a remote
A set-top box has no mouse and no touch. The arrows move a crosshair. OK fixes the point and moves to the next one: first, second, third, then fourth. After the fourth point, focus moves to Continue and Start over. Up and down switch those two buttons. OK presses the selected one. Start over begins again at the first point. Back returns to the previous point.
On a touch screen, tap the four corners in the same order, then tap Continue or Start over. The address chiryasov@outlook.com is printed under those buttons.
Pause, seek, and choose the cloth again
During playback the panel on the cloth has two round buttons and a seek bar. The left button is play and pause. The right button, marked with a trapezoid, returns to the corner screen. Arrows move between the two buttons. Down moves to the seek bar. Left and right on the bar move the film by five seconds, and faster if you hold the key. OK pauses, plays, or opens the corner screen. A finger can press the same controls.
Playback stays on the GPU: ExoPlayer supplies the frames, and OpenGL draws the sharp trapezoid over the Ambilight. Details are on how it works. The APK is the Android download above. You can also write to chiryasov@outlook.com.
